Happy New Year of the Horse

We celebrated Chinese New Year today and I have to say, I’m excited for this new chapter.

It is officially Lunar New Year and we are moving into the Year of the Yang Fire Horse. One of the things I love about living in Dubai is that we are surrounded by so many different people and traditions. It is the perfect excuse to pick up some good habits from each other.

The last stretch of the Year of the Snake felt intense for me with my counselling training.

Shedding. Letting go. Facing uncomfortable truth.

On a personal note, I am a Pig in the Chinese zodiac. From what I have been reading, this is supposed to be a really strong and positive year for us Pigs. The energy of the Horse and the Pig actually work really well together, so I am leaning into that good luck.

The Year of the Horse symbolises momentum, confidence, and forward movement. After a year of shedding, it feels good to run again.

More motion. Less overthinking. More aligned action. That's my plan for the new year.

Let’s see where it takes us.

Whether you usually celebrate or not, here are 9 simple things you can do today to set a good vibe for the rest of your year:

  1. Wear Red: Or just something bright. It is all about joy and a bit of protection.

  2. Watch Your Words: Try to stay positive and kind today. Think of it as setting the tone for your year.

  3. Find Your People: Spend time with the friends or family who actually make you feel good.

  4. Give Back: Giving red envelopes with a bit of cash is a classic way to share the luck, especially with kids.

  5. Eat Well: Grab some fish for abundance, dumplings for wealth, and long noodles if you want a long and healthy life.

  6. Money Moves: Deposit or receive some money today. It is a symbolic way to keep the cash flowing in rather than out.

  7. Let the Air In: Open your windows or doors for a few minutes. It lets out the old energy and brings in the new.

  8. Don’t Rush: Start your morning slow. If you do not rush today, you are telling the universe you are ready for a calm and steady year.

  9. Say Thanks: Take a second to be grateful for what you have and what is coming next.

Why do this?

At the end of the day, it is all about intention. When you choose to do things that represent growth and harmony on Day One, you are basically training your brain to look for those things all year long.

I would love to hear what your sign is and if you are doing any of these today.

Happy New Year x
