Notebooks, Totes, and Silk: Why Event Merch is My Love Language
Anyone who knows me knows that for me, this industry isn’t just a career. It’s a calling. There is so much happiness that fills the air when we gather in real life. It’s that can-do spirit, the collective passion, and the spark that ignites when a community finally occupies the same space.
Connections stay. Clients leave smiling. It is the kind of work you can’t help but celebrate.
The Gift Shop
I have a total soft spot for the gift shop in an art gallery. I want it all. I am fully aware that I sound like Veruca Salt, but there is something so special about bringing a piece of that inspiration home.
For me, it is all about the tactile and the sensory. Notebooks are my absolute favourite because I am constantly writing and capturing new ideas. I need tote bags to carry my ever growing collection of books, and I can never resist a candle because I am obsessed with scent and the way it sets a mood.
Recently, I went to a concert where the singer’s merchandise included a silk scarf. It was such a beautiful way to remember the night. It reminded me that merch doesn't have to be just a logo on a shirt; it can be a piece of art itself. At a recent Welsh Government event, they produced flag pin badges. Who doesn’t love a pin badge? It’s a tiny, powerful badge of identity.
Why We "Want It All"
We should all be proud to work in an industry whose primary mission is to bring people together for shared experiences.
How do we make that feeling last once the lights go down and the stage is packed away?
That is where the merchandise comes in. To some, it is just a product, but for us, it is what makes the experience stick. It is the bit people can actually hold onto. It is the tangible side of the event that keeps everyone connected long after they have gone home.
The Connection: We create objects that make people feel part of a community.
The Experience: Whether it is the scent of a candle or the feel of a silk scarf, we trigger the senses to keep memories alive.
The Purpose: We are giving people a way to bottle up the energy of a room and take it with them.
We aren't just selling stuff. We are facilitating the belonging that every human craves. When someone puts on that scarf or pins that flag to their bag, they aren't just looking at an object. They are re-experiencing the joy of that moment.
It feels only right to take a moment to celebrate the people, the passion, and the tangible connections that make what we do so special.
