Casperia: A Trip of Connection and Calm

September always has that feel of a new term and is a great time to start thinking about new things to learn and, for me, places to explore. I hope you've had a gorgeous Bank Holiday weekend. My week off work has been so relaxing and calm.

My recent trip to the small Italian village of Casperia was so relaxing. It was less about seeing the sights and more about the people and quiet moments that made the experience so special.

The journey began with a memorable drive from the Poggio Mirteto station. The driver who picked me up didn't speak a word of English, and my Italian is limited at best. Despite the language barrier, he managed to convey the history of the area to me with gestures and the few Italian words I knew. It was a perfect introduction, full of genuine warmth and a sense of shared human connection.

The first night, I stayed at La Torretta Historical Home, a beautiful boutique guesthouse run by Jennifer. Her hospitality was wonderful, and she made me feel completely at home. A random fact: her lovely mother, whom I met, is from Grangetown in Cardiff and married an Italian man. The talent of this man is clear to see in the incredible house. I've never seen furniture like it. See photos below.

The guesthouse itself was a peaceful and charming place to stay, and the mountain views were breathtaking.

Over the course of a week, we had morning and evening meditations and yoga. With a full programme of activities, horse riding with Maria was an incredible experience. She was a great, calming guide.

Yoga with Katie, whether in Kent or in Italy, is always a treat. Her class was a great way to end the day, leaving me feeling centred and relaxed.

I also had a great full-body massage with Jacqueline, a Massage and Reiki Therapist. It was very relaxing, and I came out feeling calmer and refreshed. I also had a great nights sleep! She’s an absolutely beautiful person, and I fully recommend her services.

Another amazing moment was the sound bath with Luca Natali. It was a different kind of experience that left me feeling very peaceful.

This trip to Casperia was more than just a holiday. It was an opportunity to slow down and connect with a beautiful place and its wonderful people. It's a place I won't ever forget, nor the beautiful friendships I have made.

A special thanks to Katie and Maria for organising at Wild Heart Retreats. And thank you, Luca @suonidalsilenzio, Jacqueline the Reiki Therapist.
