5 Yoga Poses for the Busy Professional

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.
— Anne Lamott

It is quite easy to spend the whole day staring at a screen and completely forget to move. However, we often find our focus improves significantly when we aren’t feeling stiff or burnt out by mid-afternoon.

If you have five minutes between tasks, these bits of movement are a lovely way to clear your head. No gym kit is needed; it's simply a moment to breathe and reset.

  • Seated Cat-Cow: While sitting, rest your hands on your knees. Inhale, lift your chest, and look up. Exhale, round your spine like a grumpy cat. It’s a lovely way to wake up the spine.

  • The Desk 'Downward Dog': Stand up, pop your hands on the edge of your desk, and step back until you’re in an L-shape. It’s brilliant for stretching out those shoulders after a long stint at the laptop.

  • Seated Spinal Twist: Sit tall, reach for the back of your chair, and gently rotate. It feels like a reset button for your lower back.

  • Standing Forward Fold: Just hang heavy over your legs for a moment. Let your head go heavy.

  • Tree Pose: A bit of balance to find your centre. Stand on one leg and breathe.

Shall we agree to take a tiny moment for ourselves today? Our work is important, but our health and happiness are what truly matter.

Wishing you all a brilliant, grounded afternoon.
