A Solstice Reminder
This Sunday, December 21, Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year.
For many Indigenous cultures, the Winter Solstice is a time for people, animals, and plants alike to slow down, rest, and restore.
As 2025 comes to a close, it's likely you're busy trying to do it all. This is your gentle reminder to take it easy, whenever you can. If you've been feeling like the world is asking too much lately, you're not alone.
Winter is nature's time to wind down and nourish yourself with some rest. At least for a day or two. Once you've recharged, then you can get a head start on the year ahead.
Choosing Slowness When Everything Demands Speed
The Solstice energy this Sunday isn't about doing it's about turning inward. Listening. Resting in the dark so we're ready to welcome the light.
It's nature's reminder that growth happens in the quiet, unseen moments. That dormancy isn't laziness, it's wisdom.
We're all moving through this together, each of us learning to honour our own rhythms in a world that often forgets rhythm matters.
So give yourself grace this week. Remember that even a few minutes of quiet amongst the chaos can still help recharge the batteries. Maybe it's five minutes with your morning coffee, a few deep breaths before bed, or simply saying "not right now" to one thing on your list.
The light is coming. But first, let yourself rest in the dark.
Preparing Your Mindset for 2026
Your mindset is a major part of your professional success. January can feel fast-paced and emotionally demanding. Taking time to reflect before the year begins helps you step into 2026 grounded and prepared.
Mindset and Wellbeing
Reflect on what worked well last year. What gave you energy? What moments made you feel aligned with your purpose? Carry these insights forward.
Identify any stress points you want to avoid in 2026. Which patterns left you depleted? What boundaries did you wish you'd set sooner? Name them now, whilst they're still fresh.
Decide on a few personal boundaries to protect your energy. Perhaps it's no emails after 7pm, or saying no to projects that don't align with your values. Small protections create sustainable momentum.
Reach out to at least one peer or colleague for support and connection. We're not meant to carry it all alone. A simple message of acknowledgement or understanding can remind us we're in this together.
Schedule regular rest or movement time for yourself. Put it in your calendar like any other commitment. Your capacity to lead, create, and serve depends on your willingness to replenish yourself first.
This Sunday's Solstice is an invitation. Not to push harder, but to pause deeper. Not to race towards the light, but to honour the dark as the place where restoration happens.
What will you give yourself permission to rest from this week?
