The Doing is the Reward
We all know that you cannot get a runner’s high just by picturing yourself on a treadmill. You have to lace up your trainers, get outside, and put in the effort before those endorphins actually arrive. The reward comes from the activity, not the thought of it.
So, why do we sometimes expect manifestation to work differently?
We have created a category called the ‘manifestor’s high.’ This is the dopamine hit we get from dreaming on paper. It feels like progress and it feels like we are moving forward. But there is a practical difference to consider. The excitement of what might happen is quite different from the satisfaction of actually making it happen.
Think of it this way. A runner’s high is a result of physical work. A manifestor’s high is the result of a mental exercise. One creates a tangible change in your life, while the other provides a temporary feeling that can occasionally stand in the way of taking action.
The maths is simple. Thinking about a run burns almost no energy, while actually running burns ten times more. That difference matters.
Visualising success is a useful tool. Professional athletes use it to focus their minds, but they do it alongside their training, not instead of it. The visualisation is the appetiser rather than the meal.
If you want the real high, you already know the next step. Visualise your goals, but then use that energy to get started. The best results are found in the doing.
