How to Choose Peace in an Unstable World.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
Life’s unpredictable, that’s a given, but you can find balance by choosing where you put your attention.
The world will always be random, regardless of what we do. From shifting deadlines to job cuts and delayed flights, chaos is constant. If we condition our balance on flawless execution, we are guaranteed to lose it.
Choosing How We Show Up
What we can control is our response in the midst of the chaos.
For me, organising large scale events are an example of organised chaos. The schedule changes hourly, with countless moving parts completely outside my influence. If I allowed that to dictate my emotional state, I'd quickly become overwhelmed. Instead, I rely on grounding practices: a moment of quiet mediation in the morning, a short walk between sites, or five minutes of focused breathwork before heading home.
These rituals don't erase the chaos, but they serve as a powerful reminder that I can choose peace within it.
Your Weekly Grounding Ritual Challenge
This week, I challenge you to experiment with one daily grounding ritual. Here are a few simple yet effective options to try:
A short walk without your phone
Journalling one page at night
A few minutes of meditation, prayer, or breathwork
Listening to music that lifts your spirits
Pick one. Commit to doing it every day. Then, pay attention to how this simple practice changes the way you navigate your week.
Here's to cultivating a peace you can carry with you.
Harnessing Your Body's Natural Mood Boosters
Did you know your body produces its own natural anti-depressants? It's true! These amazing substances have been nicknamed "hope molecules," and you manufacture them every single time you move.
To help melt away stress and instantly lift your mood, I want to challenge you to commit to just 10–15 minutes of movement a day.
The best part? You absolutely don't need to train for a marathon to reap the benefits!
My Favourite Ways to Move
Here are a few ways I love to incorporate movement:
Yoga: Gently stretching your muscles is a powerful mood booster. I began with just 10 minutes a day.
Walking & Swimming: These low-impact activities are fantastic for clearing your head. Walking is the easiest way to begin for immediate stress relief. Swimming is wonderful for mindfulness; the rhythmic breathing and the water's calm buoyancy are incredibly soothing.
Dancing: Need a quick burst of energy? Try this: put on your favourite song and simply dance for 5 minutes a day for one week. Notice the immediate, positive impact!
