A Kenyan Christmas
Watching The Lion King as a young girl, I longed to see Africa, and now I was just three feet from two majestic lions in the heart of Kenya. Africa is built for bucket list moments.
This Christmas, I ticked something off my bucket list: spending the festive season in Africa. It was more than just a holiday; it was one of the most meaningful trips I have ever taken. It's like nowhere I've ever seen. After years of struggling to name a favourite holiday, the answer now comes easily.
Life in the Savannah
On our game drives, we were fortunate to see the full "Big Five": lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards and buffalo, along with hippos, giraffes and countless other creatures living wild and free.
The Best Moments
Game drives, night game drives, hot air balloon safaris: each offered something special. But it was the unexpected moments that stayed with us most: dancing with the Maasai, watching the animals, witnessing the most mesmerising sunsets in the world.
How do you sum up a safari experience? You don't. You live it. Every moment, every encounter with nature in its purest form, stays with you long after you've left.
A Sunrise over the Mara
On New Year's Eve, we took a hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara. Even with a 5:00 am wake-up call, the experience was incredible. As we floated upwards, the sun began to light up the sky in colours that are difficult to describe.
Gliding in total silence over that vast landscape whilst watching the world wake up below us felt incredibly peaceful. Seeing the elephants from above, roaming their kingdom, made everything feel right. It was a lovely reminder of the importance of slowing down and following nature's lead.
This trip showed me that wellness is about discovering what makes you come alive, and that life isn't something to rush through but something to share and experience along the way.
