How to Get More Early Bookings

As event planners and wellness advocates, we have all seen it happen. You launch a retreat, offer a discount for booking early, and then nothing happens until the very last day.

People are not just busy. They usually mean to sign up, but they get stuck between thinking about it and actually doing it.

Here is how to use simple psychology to help your community book their spots sooner.

1. Help Them Make a Plan

Filling out a form feels like hard work today, even if the event is months away. This is because we focus more on the effort we have to make right now than the fun we will have later.

  • Do not just send a reminder. Include a link that lets them add a reminder to their phone or computer. Set it for a ten minute window titled Book my spot for the retreat. When they see that time blocked out in their diary, they are much more likely to do it.

2. Change How You Describe the Discount

We usually say: Register now and save £20. However, humans hate losing things more than they like winning them.

  • Try saying: You have a £20 credit waiting for you. It expires on Friday. This makes people feel like they already own the discount. They will want to book just so they do not lose the money.

3. Remove Every Obstacle

An obstacle is anything that makes the sign up process slow, such as long rules to read, too many pages to click through, or forms that do not work well on phones.

  • Make it as easy as possible. Research shows that making a task simpler is more effective than offering more money. Fill in their details automatically if they have visited before and put the book now button where they can see it immediately.

4. Show That Others Are Joining

We like to do what our friends and colleagues are doing. If we see that a group is already forming, we do not want to be left out.

  • Mention how many people have already joined. Simply saying that fifteen people have already claimed their spot shows that the event is popular and worth attending.

Your community already wants to be there. The problem is not a lack of interest. The problem is the small hurdles of daily life. By making the process easier and helping people plan their time, you are helping your guests finally commit to their own health and happiness.
