I Love Libraries
A library is one of my favourite things in the world. I have always loved them because they provide free knowledge for everyone. To me, a library is more than just a building; it is a place to discover new things and bring people together.
Libraries Build Communities
Libraries work like community centres. They host events and workshops that help us to connect. They are inclusive spaces where everyone is welcome, regardless of their age or background. I have seen this first-hand in the UAE and the UK.
Libraries are Global and Local
A library brings the world to you, but it also supports local culture. Many libraries host exhibitions and readings for local artists and authors.
Recently, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library (MBRL) celebrated World Art Day by inviting artists of all nationalities to paint live. Held in the Al Khor Gallery, the event encouraged adults to put away their screens and pick up a paintbrush.
The theme was simple: turn a colour into an idea and an idea into a painting. It wasn't about being a perfect artist. It was about the relaxing process of creating something new. The room felt both quiet and exciting as everyone started from scratch.
This event showed why MBRL is becoming a favourite spot in Dubai. The building is huge, at 54,000 square metres, it is roughly eight times the size of the pitch at Wembley Stadium.
Located just 10 minutes from the Creek Metro Station, MBRL is more than a home for books. It is a community space where people find peace and inspiration.
Missed the event?
Don't worry. The library is free to enter every day. You can grab a coffee, find a seat by the window, and enjoy the view. Whether you are there for a workshop or just to relax, it is the perfect place to find your own corner of calm.
